Greetings MAPES Family,
It is with heavy heart that I bring you all news of the passing of one of our dear friends and family. John “Mickey” McGrinder passed away peacefully this past Sunday morning at his home. Mickey was a retired detective from the NYPD and one of our original MAPES members. Mickey loved being a police officer and cherished the legacy of law enforcement. He is survived by his lovely wife Maureen, sons Michael, John, and Thomas. Mickey will be dearly missed by so many lives that he has touched.

This is an incredible opportunity for our organization to show our great tradition. We would love to have a huge uniformed presence of officers marching with our float and families. Our Honor Guard always performs with excellence and makes our club shine, so I ask all who can attend to come out and march with your Emerald Society! We will be meeting at Peachtree St. and 15th St. around 10:00 am on Saturday March 16th. Just look for the green and white MAPES float!
We will have MAPES St. Paddy’s Day shirts for sale at the beginning of the parade for all who would like to wear one during the parade.
The Metro Atlanta Police Emerald Society (MAPES) is a non political fraternal organization made up of law enforcement officers and supporters of Gaelic heritage.
